Stephen Leslie

Leslie

Stephen R. Leslie, 69, formerly of Butler, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, May 18, 2024, after a long battle with lung cancer.

He was born in Kittanning to the late Robert D. Leslie and the late Dorothy M. Ayers.

After graduating from Butler High School in 1972, Steve proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 17 years, then worked for the commonwealth of Pennsylvania for 15 years.

He enjoyed camping, going to country music concerts with good friends, and was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Most of all, he loved being with his family and grandchildren, who affectionately called him Goop.

Steve leaves behind his friend and loving wife of 46 years, Lorraine; his beloved sons and their wives, Stephen (Tracy) and Nicholas (Kristen); two devoted and much adored grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan; his loving sister, Rhonda (Joseph); and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was especially close to his cousins Lori and Betsy, who lovingly sent him wellness cards weekly throughout his long battle.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his brother, David T. Leslie, and David’s wife Jane.

LESLIE — Per his wishes, Stephen R. Leslie, who died Saturday, May 18, 2024, was cremated. A celebration of life with military honors will be held on a date to be determined.

Memorial contributions can be made to either St. Jude Childhood Cancer Research or Wounded Warrior Program.
