Marilyn L. (DeMarsh) Brooks, 87, of Reading, Mass., formerly of Forestville, Pa., Butler and Middletown, Ohio, passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

Marilyn was born in Forestville on Oct. 10, 1936, and was the daughter to Theodore “Ted” and Dorothy M. (Kays) DeMarsh.

Marilyn was raised in Forestville and was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She married her PSU college sweetheart, Alfred C. Brooks, in St. Anthony’s Church on June 28, 1958. While living in Massachusetts, she was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Woburn, Mass.

She was a graduate of Slippery Rock High School in 1954 and Penn State University in 1958, and she did graduate work at Duquesne University.

Marilyn was a retired schoolteacher, and she served as a Chaplin at Mercy Hospital, while living in the Butler area.

She is survived by her husband, Alfred, at home; a son, Thomas S. Brooks of Boston, Mass.; a brother, Paul C. DeMarsh of Forestville; a sister-in-law, Linda DeMarsh; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Alfred “Ted” Brooks; a sister, Barbara Herndon; a brother, Edward DeMarsh; and a nephew, Paul E. DeMarsh.

BROOKS — Visitation for Marilyn L. (DeMarsh) Brooks, who died Wednesday, May 29, 2024, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony’s Church, 282 Boyers Road, Forestville, Pa.

Burial will be at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Harrisville.
