Watterson

Jo Ann Watterson, 76, of Butler, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born April 6, 1948, in Butler, she was the daughter of Charles Hartzell and Ada Giles Hartzell.

She worked as a caterer for American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Slovak Sokol Society. She was a member of the women's Auxiliary at American Legion Post 778, serving as president for over a decade.

Surviving are her daughter, Kristen (Frank) Gaston of Valencia; stepdaughter, Jennifer Grus of Pittsburgh; brothers, Dr. Charles (Peggy) Hartzell of Wilmington, Del., and Martin (Connie) Hartzell of Dayton, Tenn.; sister, Judith (Don) Entner of Malvern, Pa.; and five grandchildren, Lilliann Gaston, Maddilynn Gaston, Kari Bottari, Steven Loftis and Mable Grus.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Heidi Loftis; one brother, Harry Hartzell; and her spouses, Anthony (Tony) Grus and Loyal (Red) Watterson.

WATTERSON — The family is planning a memorial at a later date for Jo Ann Watterson, who died Saturday, June 1, 2024.
