Miriam Carothers
Miriam Marie “Nan” Carothers, 92, of Chicora, and formerly of Florida, passed away the morning of Friday, May 31, 2024, at Chicora Medical Center.
Born on April 28, 1932, in Grove City, Miriam was the daughter of the late Paul L. Miller and late Dorothy Marie Stevenson Miller.
She was employed as a cook for many restaurants locally. She liked to paint, enjoyed bird watching, and also watching her soaps.
She is survived by two daughters, Diana (Edward) Hougg, of Chicora, and Debra (Jim) Spence, of West Sunbury; one son, Ben (Sue) Carothers, of West Sunbury; daughter-in-law, Flo Carothers; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her half sister, Hazel Cutless; nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Miriam was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey D. Carothers Jr., whom she married on Dec. 15, 1950; a son, Joseph; great-grandson, Devin Kirk; one sister and one brother.
CAROTHERS — Family and friends of Miriam Marie “Nan” Carothers, who died Friday, May 31, 2024, will be received for visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday June 2, 2024 at WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 132 Main St., West Sunbury.
A blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Father Adam Verona officiating.
Private burial will be in West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
