Nancy Olinger

Olinger

Nancy Ann Olinger, 85, of Zelienople, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, while under the care of UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

Born May 16, 1939, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Murray Simpson and Viola Pearl (Hartzell) Simpson. She was the oldest of three sisters, with her younger siblings, Fay and Donna, surviving her.

Nancy earned her bachelor’s degree from Grove City College and her master’s degree from the University of Michigan. For over 30 years, she taught business education at Evans City High School and the Seneca Valley School District, until her retirement.

Nancy and her late husband, Tom, volunteered regularly at Park United Presbyterian Church, Meals on Wheels, the Lions Club, and the Zelienople Horse Trading Days. They also loved to travel together. Nancy’s favorite travel destination was to Alaska on a cruise. She and Tom also rescued and cared for many dogs and cats over the years. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and jigsaw puzzles. Above all, Nancy was a beloved wife, sister and aunt, who loved spoiling her nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sisters, Fay S. (Thomas) Wright of Sewickley and Donna Mae Lindley of Erie; her nieces and nephews, Dan Wright, Ben Wright, Jessica Peluso, Lori Lindley and Byron Lindley; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Thomas R. Olinger, who passed away on Nov. 8, 2023; and her brother-in-law, Larry Lindley.
