KC softball season ends in playoff loss

Karns City’s softball season ended on Wednesday with a 12-11 District 9 2A playoff loss to Curwensville at Heindl Field in Dubois.

The Gremlins trailed 11-7 entering the top of the seventh inning, scoring four times to tie the game. The Golden Tide scored in the bottom of the inning. Curwensville banged out 19 hits in the victory.

Addison Siple led the winners with four hits, four runs scored and three RBI. Natalie Wischuck contributed two hits, three RBI and two runs scored. Karns City had 12 hits, though no individual statistics were available.

Moniteau’s game against top-seed Cranberry at Clarion-Limestone was postponed on Wednesday. It will now be played at 5 p.m. Thursday at Brockway.

Baseball

North Catholic scored a 12-4 semifinal win over Thomas Jefferson on Tuesday to advance to next Wednesday’s WPIAL Class 4A championship game against Indiana.

The No. 6 Trojans (16-4) and No. 9 Little Indians (12-9) will face each other at 4 p.m. at Wild Things Park.

General McLane 8, Slippery Rock 4 — The Rockets saw their season ended with this District 10 Class 4A quarterfinal playoff loss to the Lancers on Tuesday.
