Moniteau sets up playoff game with rival KC

Dawson Wallace, Connor Ealy and Dawson Cook combined to shut out Coudersport on five hits Monday night as Moniteau’s baseball team advanced to the District 9 2A baseball semifinals.

The Warriors scored a 7-0 victory at Pullman Park. Moniteau will take on Karns City — a 6-1 winner over Curwensville — in the next round. The game will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at a site to be determined.

Moniteau scored six runs in the first three innings — including a three-run first frame — to build a big lead. Wallace got the start and struck out five in three innings, allowing one hit.

Ealy threw two innings, allowed four hits and got the win. Cook allowed no hits over the final two frames. The Warrior trio combined to strike out 10.

Cook had a double and single, Wallace a pair of singles and an RBI in the victory. Landon Kelly had a single and two RBI, Keagan Book a double.

Wallace, Ealy and Cook will all be available to pitch on Thursday.

Boys Volleyball

Mars advanced to the WPIAL Class 2A championship game with a 3-2 win over Ambridge in a semifinal played at Gateway High School. No other details were submitted.
