Annette Phillips

Phillips

When we saw your rainbow, we knew your soul was at peace. We will miss you every day for the rest of our lives. Thank you for being the best Mom and Mormor anyone could ask for.

Annette Merete Phillips, 72, of Butler, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024, after a long illness.

Born July 18, 1951, in Odense, Denmark, she was a daughter of the late Emil Fort and Else Johnson.

Annette worked as an X-ray technician at Butler Memorial Hospital and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Butler. She received her training at Butler Memorial Hospital and at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

She served on the Tanglewood Senior Center board of directors and volunteered with the Visiting Nurses Association.

In her free time, Annette enjoyed baking cookies, gardening, cross-stitch embroidering, and visits and FaceTime sessions with her grandchildren.

After retirement, she took her love for baking cookies and started “Annette’s Cookie Kitchen” where she made cookies for weddings and other occasions. She always enjoyed creating her own cookie recipe when a family member was getting married.

She was the most amazing mom and the kindest person. She never missed a performance or game when her kids were growing up, and she traveled to Indiana and Virginia each year to visit with her grandchildren. She was very proud of her Danish heritage and passed that on to her daughters, along with her kindness, honesty, loyalty, strength and Christmas spirit.

She is survived by two daughters, Jaime Goins (Bryan), and their daughter, Gianna, of Brownsburg, Ind., and Natalie Booher (Chad) and their children, Alena and Austin, of St. Johns, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Lori Elias (David), and their children, Nathan, Maddie and Noah, and Audra Brown (Ron) and their children, Veronica and Aaron; and one stepson, Rodney Phillips (Amy) and their children, Tanya, Brooke and Emily.

Also surviving are five siblings, Eva Robinson (Tom), Mike Fort (Diane), Lisa Cope (Howard), Alex Fort and Nelson Johnson (Marianne); six stepsiblings, Karen Hershberger (Neil), Bruce Johnson (Connie), Melissa Johnson, Karin DeKam Fort Harrison (Jim), Katie DeKam Fort Campbell and Mark Johnson (Stacy); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Phillips, who passed away June 1, 2004.
