John A. Henry, 67, of Butler, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

He was born May 11, 1957, in Butler, the son of the late Robert John Henry and Marjorie (Sindlinger) Henry. He had a long and respected career, working for Prudential Insurance, Butler Area High School and the Butler Eagle, where he served as a district manager for more than 20 years.

John loved riding his bicycle and could often be found cruising around the streets of Meridian. He was an avid bowler and was a member of the Meridian Men's Bowling League for 25 years. John was an enthusiastic fan of Pittsburgh sports and enjoyed watching games whenever he could. He had a hearty, contagious laugh that could light up any room and bring joy to those around him. His warm and welcoming personality made everyone feel at ease, and his presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends and community.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Diane (Doerr) Henry; his children, Dr. Alaina Henry of Columbia, Md., Nicholas Henry of Butler and Hannah Henry and wife, Ashley McGuinness, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; his chosen son, Max Sassone of White Oak; and his grandson, Benjamin Henry Lal.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Bonnie Bortmas.

HENRY — Friends of John A. Henry, who died Tuesday, May 14, 2024, will be received from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. Saturday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.
