The weather was perfect for a cruise, and the setting was even better for senior prom, 1970.

Mars Area High School seniors had their prom on the Gateway Party Liner in Pittsburgh on May 20, 1970, which took dancers on a roundabout tour of the Monongahela, Allegheny and Ohio rivers.

Many girls chose cover up gowns with high neck lines for the event, many of whom also wore sleeves and slim skirts. There were a few pants ensembles, and the liner décor recalled Gay Nineties-era America. The setting was reportedly unrivaled by any previous Mars prom décor.
