Albert Fritz

Fritz

Albert F. Fritz, 92, of Valencia, Middlesex Township, was welcomed into heaven by our Lord and Savior on Monday morning, May 13, 2024. He died peacefully on the Fritz family farm, surrounded by family.

Born on the family farm on Jan. 1, 1932, he was the son of late Alice (Cashdollar) and Albert C. Fritz.

A 1951 graduate of Mars High School, he worked 29 years for the U.S. Steel Saxonburg sinter plant. Al was a third-generation farmer.

The farm was a labor of love. Al was in the dairy business and milked cows for many years. He most recently was raising beef cattle, free-range chickens, and made sure the cats were fed daily. He enjoyed touring around the farm on his John Deere Gator with his dog, Minnie, checking on the new calves and progress with the crops.

Al was a dedicated worker and family man. He instilled a strong work ethic, punctuality, living frugally and it was standard to “do the right thing.” His vegetable garden occupied his time and he even had onions planted already for the summer. Al enjoyed watching all the Pittsburgh sports teams on TV, and politics, especially President Trump speeches.

Albert bled the American dream and was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard. He belonged to John E. Mair Lodge 729 F&AM and the Syria Shrine and Consistory. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, the Butler County Farm Bureau, the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Company and the Butler County Farmland Preservation Board.

Al leaves behind his caring, devoted wife of 62 years, Mary Rebekah Goodwin Fritz; a daughter, Tracey Ewing of Apex, N.C.; a son, Luke Fritz (Debby) of Valencia; youngest daughter, Carrie Ann Deshaw (Jim) of Nashville, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Meghan Capara (Ian); a grandson, Matthew Fritz; a grandson, Josh (Renae); and a granddaughter Samantha (Greg).

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Alice (Fritz) Metz, William Ferguson Fritz and Howard Pitterhoff.

The family wishes to thank all his loving competent caregivers, especially Pattie and the hospice of UPMC, for the care he received at home as his goal was always to be “Born in the farmhouse and die there.”
