Edward and Ruth Monnie

Edward and Ruth Monnie, of Butler Township, will celebrate 65 years of marriage with a family gathering.

Monnie married the former Ruth Stoops on May 21, 1959, at the Center Street Methodist Church in Cumberland, Md.

They have three children, Melissa Olen and Mark Monnie, both of Renfrew, and Marcia Connell of Slippery Rock.

The Monnies also have five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Monnie is retired from Armco. He enjoys gardening, genealogy and working in his shop.

Mrs. Monnie is a homemaker. She has served as a volunteer for many organizations over the years, including the Connoquenessing Area Meals on Wheels.

The Monnies are members of Meridian Presbyterian Church.
