Doctor

John J. Doctor, 74, of Butler, passed away at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

He was born in Butler on Jan. 14, 1950, to John Paul Doctor and Amelia Mary Pollock Doctor.

He married Carla A. Seaton on June 31, 1987, and she preceded him in death in 2022.

John was retired from AK Steel in Butler where he had worked in the pollution control department. He loved to hunt, fish and ride his motorcycle, and he was a lifetime member of Single Action Shooting Society Cowboy Association and belonged to the Butler Hunting & Fishing Club. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Butler.

Survivors include his daughter, Dawn Renee Wise; sons, John Phillip Doctor and Michael Paul Doctor, all of Butler; a stepson, William W. Hollefreund of Butler; brother, James Doctor of Lyndora; sister, Mary Ann (Don) Criley of Chicora; several grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

DOCTOR — Interment for John J. Doctor, who died Tuesday, May 7, 2024, will be in Butler County Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul Catholic Church in Butler.

Arrangements have been entrusted to SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
