PENN TWP — Steven Green, president and chief executive officer of Glade Run Lutheran Services, was honored with the Jean B. Purvis Community Cornerstone Award on Friday, May 10.

“We are excited to gather tonight to honor Steven Green, whose service, leadership and community engagement has improved lives and strengthened our community,” said Sheila Talarico, vice president of development and external affairs of Glade Run.

Members of the community, along with Green’s family and friends, gathered at the Butler Country Club to celebrate Green receiving the award, which is awarded annually to a resident of Butler County who has made significant contributions in the delivery of health care services.

“Steven Green is a natural fit for this award,” said Kim Reamer, executive director of the Community Health Center. “He has dedicated his career to improving access to health care and other human services throughout our county and region.”

Green currently resides in Center Township with his wife, Michelle, and two children, Steven and Krislyn. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Slippery Rock University and his master’s degree in counseling from Waynseburg University.

Green was named CEO of Glade Run Lutheran Services in 2018.

Chairman of the Glade Run board Kieth Colonna said Green has had a tremendous impact on the organization, taking the nonprofit to new heights.

“Steve’s done a magnificent job for the agency,” Colonna said. “When he came on board this agency had been going through a couple of difficult years. And really in four or five years that’s really turned around thanks to Steve’s leadership.”

Before joining Glade Run, Green served at Community Alternatives, Butler County Human Services, MHY Family Services and The Bradley Center.

During Green’s acceptance speech he spoke about the importance of helping others in the community and humbly thanked his staff for the recognition.

“This award is as much yours as it is mine,” he said. “I will forever share this award with you all. The work we do matters, the work we have done together will forever impact the communities we serve and continue to serve.”

Just before his tenure at Glade Run, Green served as CEO for Butler County Children’s Center, now known as the Early Learning Connections.

He also volunteers in the community through contributions in organizations such as the Butler County Chamber of Commerce and the Butler AM Rotary Club.

Glade Run is a health provider offering programming to individuals experiencing mental illness. The nonprofit organization, which was founded in 1854, focuses on education, mental health, developmental disabilities and community monitoring.
