Air conditioners to be replaced at Saxonburg’s Cooper Hall
At a special meeting on Wednesday, May 1, Saxonburg’s board of supervisors voted to dip into the borough’s park fund to replace two air conditioning units which recently failed at Cooper Hall on Rebecca Street.
Cooper Hall is attached to the Saxonburg Museum at Roebling Park, and the building is currently being rented by Genesis Gym.
“It was going to turn into an oven in there real quick,” said township manager/secretary Steven May. “We had to get a special meeting in mainly for the air conditioning units.”
The old air conditioning units failed this past Saturday, April 27. May added that they were the original units that came with the building and had exceeded their expected life.
May said the new units will be ordered as soon as Friday, May 3, and the borough hopes to install them by the end of next week. The cost of the two new units will amount to “just over $15,000.”
