Adoption fees being waived at Butler County Humane Society

National campaign aims to ‘Empty the Shelters’

The fee for adopting cats and dogs over six months old at the Butler County Humane Society is being waived from May 1 to 15 as part of a campaign by the BISSELL Pet Foundation and its “Empty the Shelters” campaign.

A Tuesday, April 30, news release from the humane society said while the normal adoption process will still apply, the effort is meant to help more animals find homes. BISSELL Pet Foundation sponsors reduced adoption fees of $50 or less per cat or dog during each nationwide event.

“We are incredibly excited to be part of the BISSELL ‘Empty the Shelters’ event,” said Cari Ciancio, executive director of the Butler County Humane Society. “It highlights the need shelters are facing across the country ... wonderful animals being overlooked, remaining in the shelter for far too long, when they deserve the comfort of homes.”

The humane society still urges families to research the pet they want to adopt, as well as adoption requirements, before adopting. For more information on adopting or donating to Empty the Shelters, visit bissellpetfoundation.org, or butlercountyhs.org.
