Unique, tasty fundraiser to benefit blindness research

The Foundation Fighting Blindness will hold What’s the Buzz in the Kitchen?, a combination upscale cooking class and lecture, starting at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at Butler Country Club in Penn Township.

Home cooks and professionals alike will enjoy the unique dining experience, which will see Chef James, the country club’s chef, preparing luncheon selections for attendees while explaining his technique.

In addition to noshing on the selections prepared and described by Chef James, people who attend can bid on 15 gift baskets or purchase items for sale.

Tickets, which are $60 per person, are available by calling Judy Kohl at 724-272-4475. Deadline to purchase tickets is May 1.

All proceeds from the event will be used to research degenerative diseases of the eye.

The Foundation Fighting Blindness is the world’s leading organization committed to finding treatments and cures for blinding retinal disease.

The foundation’s mission is to drive the research that will provide preventions, treatments and cures for people affected by retinitis pigmentosa, macular degeneration, Usher syndrome and the entire spectrum of retinal degenerative diseases.

More than $915 million has been raised by the foundation since its inception in 1971.
