Knights topple Highlands

Knoch’s Kyle Morgan, Dante Pelloni, and Brady Wozniak had multi-hit performances on Thursday as the Knights beat Highlands, 14-4, in five innings of WPIAL Section 4-4A baseball play.

Jacob Stallsmith went the distance for Knoch (2-4, 3-6), allowing three hits while striking out three challengers. The Knights play Kiski Area on Monday.

Slippery Rock 6, Conneaut 4 — The Rockets’ Jacob Kunsman went 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs, while Sal Mineo and Ryan Double both turned in multi-hit games at Slippery Rock University’s Critchfield Park.

Isaac McCandless struck out eight and allowed four runs in four frames, then Austan Runtas pitched three scoreless innings to finish the contest.

Slippery Rock improves to 6-2 and faces Neshannock at the same venue on Friday.

Softball

Dominant Seneca Valley junior pitcher/slugger Lexie Hames struck out 19 batters, allowing just one hit and no runs as the Raiders defeated Baldwin, 2-0. Bella Gross singled and drove in a run in the win for Seneca Valley (10-0, 7-0 WPIAL Section 1-6A).

Karns City 12, Central Clarion 7 — The Gremlins scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning in this defeat of the Wildcats.

KC received a 2-hit, 3-RBI game from senior catcher Jada Polczynski. E.Sherman singled twice, scored once and drove in two runs.

Addison Burrows struck out three and allowed four earned runs in the victory.

Volleyball

Coleton Welter had a total of 15 kills, Maddox McCall 18 digs, and Mason McCall 20 assists as Butler visited and swept Pine-Richland in section play. The scores for the match were 25-19, 26-24, and 25-22.

The Golden Tornado (6-5, 4-3) rallied from down 10 in the second game. They participate in a tournament at Upper St. Clair on Saturday.
