John Hooley Sr.

John F. Hooley Sr., 79, of Cranberry Township, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024, in Manassas, Va.

Born May 30, 1944, in Chelsea, Mass., he was the son of the late Francis J. Hooley and Bertha Ramsey Hooley.

John was a member of Divine Grace Parish, St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. He served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard. He retired after 37 years of service from US Airways and worked at the Butler Auto Action for 13 years.

John became a member of the Knights of Columbus in 1963. He was a proud Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus 83 Chelsea, Mass., council. He loved all Boston sports teams; however, the Boston Red Sox held a special place in his heart.

Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. He is survived by his children, Jessica M. Smith, and her husband, Kelly, of Manassas, Va., and John F. Hooley Jr., of Cranberry Township; his two granddaughters, Lola and Addison Smith of Manassas, Va.; his sisters, Barbara Hooley and Joanne Hooley, both of Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Arlene Marie (Spina) Hooley; and his sisters, Carolyn Conley and Kathleen Goren.

HOOLEY — Friends of John F. Hooley Sr., who died Thursday, April 11, 2024, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at BOYLAN-GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday at Divine Grace Parish, St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
