Mars downs New Castle, 9-4
Mars’ Charlie Bickel tossed a complete game and Jacob Maple bashed a two-run homer as the Planets defeated WPIAL Section 3-5A baseball foe New Castle, 9-4, on Monday.
The win was the second in a row for Mars (5-2, 3-2), who will face the Red Hurricane on the road Tuesday.
Track and Field
Landon Lacey won the 200 meters for Butler on Saturday as the Golden Tornado boys placed second in the 52-team Tri-State Track and Field Invitational at West Mifflin High School.

Softball
Marlee Fraser accounted for one of Knoch’s two hits and allowed no earned runs in a 2-0 Section 4-4A loss to Indiana.
Sylvia Luffy had the other base knock for the Knights (2-4, 1-2).
Tennis
With a 6-4, 6-4 No. 2 singles win over Nolan Jaczcar on Monday, Butler senior Ben Busler helped the Golden Tornado to a 3-2 home win over Moon on his 18th birthday.
Busler fell behind 3-2 in the second set before rallying for the victory. Fellow senior James Walter and junior Andrew Bocci also singles wins on the day.
Busler and Bocci are both set to compete at section doubles on Tuesday, aiming to lock up a spot in the WPIAL tournament next week.
Boys Volleyball
Maddox McCall had 25 digs as Butler defeated Norwin, 3-1. Scores were 25-16, 20-25, 25-18, 25-19.
Mason Anderson had 10 kills and Kole Wojnar 17 assists for the Golden Tornado (6-3, 2-2) in this non-secton victory. Butler plays at Seneca Valley on Tuesday night.
