Muddy water back in creek, mess left behind

PENN TWP -- While the waters of the Connoquenessing Creek lapped at the door of the Renfrew Post Office Friday, by Saturday morning they had receded and left a mucky mess behind for the township public works crew.

The pickleball court, which was underwater Friday, stood covered with malodorous silt and debris the next morning.

The stone steps at the kayak launch remained completely under, and the trunks of large trees along the creek in Renfrew remained hidden in the opaque water.

No water remained on the roads on Saturday, and a flagger regulated traffic for crews working on the nearby Meridian Road landslide project.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh forecasts occasionally heavy thunderstorms for Sunday.
