McNany homers in softball win

Seneca Valley graduate and Penn State Behrend softball player Jocelyn McNany belted her fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot that helped in a 16-4 win in the first leg of a home doubleheader against Hilbert on Tuesday.

The Lions (15-7, 4-0) have won eight straight contests.

Kast loses decision for Butler Cubs

At Wexford’s North Way Church last Saturday, Butler Cubs boxer Damien Kast lost a 132-pound bout against Boyce AC’s John Grigilo.

This Saturday, at Steamfitters Union Hall in Harmony, Cubs boxers Darren Hildebrand (176 lbs.) and Evan Lyle (150 lbs.) will compete against MAC Fitness’ Zaire Agrate and G Force’s Luke Ruteti, respectively.

SV graduate Groves gets five assists

GROVE CITY — Seneca Valley graduate Meah Groves, a junior attack on the Grove City College women’s lacrosse team, tallied a career-best five assists in the Wolverines’ 22-1 win over Waynesburg.

Butler graduate Tori Stevenson collected a team-leading five ground balls in the win.

Moniteau’s Rottman shines for Thiel

GREENVILLE — Moniteau graduate Abby Rottman had a big day for the Thiel College softball team in the Tomcats’ 7-6, 3-2 doubleheader sweep of Grove City.

Rottman had two singles and four RBI in the first game. She added a double and two RBI in the nightcap.

County pair aid Thiel volleyball

GREENVILLE — Butler graduate Kaleb Proudfoot and Seneca Valley graduate Will Zimmerman played major roles in the Thiel College men’s volleyball 3-1 win over Geneva in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference tournament.

Proudfoot had 10 kills and five blocks, Zimmerman 10 kills and three digs. The Tomcats face Hiram in the AMCC semifinals on Friday.

Union/ACV’s Wilson opts for Lycoming

Union/A-C Valley linebacker Luke Wilson will continue his academic and football career at Lycoming University. He will major in secondary social studies.

Wilson had 140 solo tackles and 75 assisted tackles during his career with the Falcon Knights. He ranked ninth in the state in solo tackles in Class A and was named All-District 9 this past season.

Brown scores win in harness racing

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown drove Jillian B Miki to victory during harness racing action Wednesday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

The 5-year-old mare captured a $12,500 Conditioned Pace.
