Rally boosts Knoch to win
Making use of a fifth-inning rally, Knoch notched a 5-3 WPIAL Section 1-4A softball win against McKeesport on Tuesday. The Knights (4-2, 2-0) racked up seven hits in that frame, leading to five runs.
Carissa Tekely had a 3-for-3 day at the dish, adding two RBIs. Grace Hensch had a pair of hits, while Marlee Fraser went the distance in the circle and allowed just one earned run.
Knoch will be back in action Wednesday at conference foe Highlands.
Track and Field
Caleb Buti (110-meter hurdles, 300 hurdles), Zach Kelly (100 dash, 200 dash), Kaydin Wilson (400 dash), Mason Bell (800 dash), Alex Wilson (long jump), Kolby Blair (discus), and Luke Cramer (javelin) all had individual wins as Karns City’s boys defeated Redbank Valley, 121-29.
The Gremlins’ 3,200, 400, and 1,600 relay teams also earned uncontested victories.
North Clarion (boys) 75, Union/A-C Valley 74 — Union/A-C Valley’s Logan Skibinski ran the 100 dash in a school-record 11.0 seconds in this loss. Skibinski also won the 200 dash, posting a time of 23.4 seconds.
North Clarion (girls) 100, Union/A-C Valley 49 — The Falcon Knights’ Dani Farkas had wins in the 100 and 300 hurdles in the defeat.
Boys Tennis
Jaxon Hittle and Zack Wilfong had a doubles win, Mars’ only victory in a 4-1 loss to Pine-Richland. No further details were provided.
Girls Lacrosse
Mars scored a key Section 2A win on Monday night, defeating Blackhawk, 9-8. No other details were provided.
Boys Volleyball
Coleton Welter had 10 kills and a pair of aces as Butler (4-3, 2-2) downed Seton LaSalle, 3-0, at home. The scores for this match were 25-10, 25-16, and 25-8.
Mason McCall added 13 assists for the Golden Tornado, who next face Fox Chapel at home on Thursday. Maddox McCall had 16 digs, Alex Teff two aces, and Peter Zulick six blocks.
