SV grad McNany Player of Week

ERIE — Seneca Valley graduate and Penn State Behrend softball player Jocelyn McNany has been named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season.

McNany had three hits, four RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases for the Lions. She also hit her fourth home run of the season.

Mars’ Do qualifies for world title golf

ADAMS TWP — Mars Area Centennial School fifth-grader Madison Do has qualified for the 2024 U.S. Kids Golf Foundation World Championship, slated Aug. 1-3 in Pinehurst, N.C.

Do placed first overall in the girls 9-10 division of the Fall 2023 Pittsburgh Local Tour Series, during which she also had four first-place finishes.

A golfer since age 4, Do will compete in the Girls 11 Division at the World Championships.

County players shine at Cager Classic

NATRONA HEIGHTS — Butler senior Braylon Littlejohn was named MVP of the East’s 101-98 boys basketball victory over the West at the 27th Cager Clasic All-Star Game on Saturday night.

Littlejohn scored 16 points, had six assists, four rebounds and two steals. Mars senior Remi Black had two points and six rebounds, Freeport senior Brady Sullivan six points.

Buter senior Jessica Chwalik scored seven points and grabbed three rebounds in the East’s 97-78 win in the girls game. Knoch’s Adah Fuller scored 13 points, Naturelle Ewing three for the West while Freeport’s Megan Croney contributed six points, Jaden Gaillot three and Brooke Kmetz two.

Lernerville resets weekend events

SARVER — Lernerville Speedway has rescheduled its first Test & Tune event of the year to Saturday and the Steel City Stampede ReBoot to Sunday of this weekend.

Pits open at 4 p.m. for Test & Tune with hot laps scheduled to start at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Grandstands open at 2 p.m. on Sunday with hot laps scheduled to start at 3 p.m., followed by racing.

Five feature races will take place during the Steel City Stampede.

SRU athletes get PSAC recognition

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock High School graduate Seaton Wozniak, a sophomore thrower for the Slippery Rock University men’s track and field team, has been named PSAC West Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.

Wozniak won the shot put at the Dave Labor Invitational with a career-best and NCAA provisional mark of 17.11 meters. He also finished third in the discus with a mark of 46.10 meters.

SRU graduate student Charleigh Rondeau has been named PSAC West Women’s Lacrosse Athlete of the Week. The midfielder tallied 24 draw controls, seven ground balls, five caused turnovers and and two goals in two games.
