With the introduction of the Women’s Alliance initiative, the Butler County Chamber of Commerce is expanding its resources and network capabilities.

Chamber operations manager with the Chamber Tanya Wise said the goal of the Women’s Alliance is to empower, promote and support Butler County businesswomen.

“We want everyone to know they are welcome,” Wise said. “You can be a waitress, line pacer, general manager, a business owner and everything in between.”

The alliance held its first meeting March 26 at The Field House restaurant in Jefferson Township. About 65 women attended.

“This group already exceeded my expectations,” Wise said. “I thought if I could get 20 or 25 women to attend the first event it would be a success. It showed me that women wanted and needed a group such as this. I look forward to building this group, building relationships and growing in our community.”

Wise said the group will aim to meet quarterly, with the next meeting to be held June 11 at a time and location to be named.

Moving forward, Wise hopes to have a guest speaker at each meeting, after which attendees will break off into roundtable discussions on the topic presented by the speaker.

During upcoming events, Wise said the Alliance will aim to tackle topics such as becoming Women-Owned Small Business certified, how to start your own small business and how to create a solid work/life balance.

“We formed a great committee which has really bought into this concept and has worked incredibly hard to launch it,“ Wise said. ”Their expertise and guidance will be critical to grow this group and make an impact.“

The Alliance works under the chamber’s umbrella and is free to anyone who wants to attend. Those interested can email manager@butlercountychamber.com for more information.
