Freeport’s Sydney Selker went the distance in the circle, striking out 11, and bashed a home run and a pair of singles in the Yellowjackets’ 5-3 softball win over Indiana.

Lauren Clark added a double, while Reese Selker had a single and an RBI.

O.Zimmerman struck out 13 for Indiana in a losing cause.

Seneca Valley 4, Pine-Richland 1 — Lexie Hames struck out 14 and tossed a two-hitter in the Raiders’ section opener. She hit a two-run homer as well.

Kylie Staudt and Addie Winkler had RBI doubles for Seneca Valley. Kara Pasquale made a stellar catch in center field.

Karns City 9, Cranberry 7 — L.Reed, A.Burrows and E.Sherman all had two hits for the Gremlins, with Sherman collecting three RBI and Burrows two.

Burrows struck out four and pitched all seven innings for the victory.

Franklin Regional, 10, Mars 9 — The Planets dropped this contest against the Panthers. No other details were provided.

Baseball

Dom Zandio delivered a go-ahead two-run triple in the sixth inning to lead lead Slippery Rock past Franklin, 7-3. Austen Runtas hit a two-run homer..

Ryan Double, Isaac McCandless and Sal Mineo combined efforts on the mound for the Rockets.

Boys Tennis

Seneca Valley swept the doubles matches in edging Canon-McMillan, 3-2, on Thursday. The Raiders improved to 3-2 on the season.
