John A. Schuster, 80, of Renfrew, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

Born July 20, 1943, in Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late Melvin Schuster and Adeline Pantoni Schuster.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served with the military police during the Vietnam War era. He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Robert Morris University. He was employed at S&T Bank as the vice president of asset-based lending. He enjoyed golfing and playing poker with family and friends. He was immensely proud of his grandchildren. He had a special friend in his granddog, Teddy. He will be fondly remembered for the values that anchored his life, devotion to family, hard work and honesty. John will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

John leaves behind to cherish his memory his three daughters, Christine Schuster (Matthew Pistoia) of Butler, Joy Green (Michael) of Saxonburg and Bess Mentel of Renfrew; his three grandchildren, Hannah and Noah Green and Ellie Mentel; his siblings, Melvin “Dutch” (Terri) Schuster, Thomas Schuster and Mary Frances Pilarski; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Carol Schuster, who passed away two weeks earlier, on Sunday, March 10, 2024.

SCHUSTER — Friends of John A. Schuster, who died Sunday, March 24, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024, at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER OF CONNOQUENESSING TOWNSHIP, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.

A celebration of life service with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Pastor Reid Moon officiating.

John will be laid to rest beside his wife at Butler County Memorial Park in Butler.
