Page shines in big lacrosse win

NEW WILMINGTON — In a dominating 26-1 home men’s lacrosse victory over Mount St. Joseph’s University on Saturday, Seneca Valley graduate and Westminster sophomore attack Brady Page totaled three goals, six assists, a ground ball, and a pair of caused turnovers.

His nine points and six assists were a career-high.

Fellow Seneca Valley grad Brady Skinner deposited his first career goal with 32 seconds to play and Freeport grad Nathan Covey had a pair of markers, as well. Both are freshman attacks.

The Titans’ output was their largest since a 33-goal effort nearly three years ago.

Butler grad Huba helps in Westminster defeat

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — Khloe Huba, a Butler graduate and freshman attack for the Westminster women’s lacrosse team, notched a pair of goals in a 16-10 setback at West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday.

The loss drops the Titans to a 1-5 record this season.

Pirates grant release of RHP Anderson

The Pittsburgh Pirates allowed the release of right-handed pitcher Chase Anderson on Saturday. Anderson was in the competition for a spot in the team’s starting rotation and had given up just three earned runs in 11 innings of work this spring.

Anderson signed a deal with the Boston Red Sox shortly after being let go.

The Pirates now have 40 active players remaining in their big league camp.

Longtime O’s owner Angelos dead at 94

BALTIMORE — Peter Angelos, owner of a Baltimore Orioles team that endured long losing stretches and shrewd proprietor of a law firm that won high-profile cases against industry titans, died Saturday. He was 94.

Angelos had been ill for several years. His family announced his death in a statement released by the Orioles that thanked the caregivers “who brought comfort to him in his final years.”

Angelos’ death comes as his son, John, is in the process of selling the Orioles to a group headed by Carlyle Group Inc. co-founder David Rubenstein. Peter Angelos’ public role diminished significantly in his final years. According to a lawsuit involving his sons in 2022, he had surgery after his aortic valve failed in 2017.
