Butler’s Proudfoot aids Thiel victory

GREENVILLE — Butler graduate Kaleb Proudfoot tallied 10 kills and three blocks in helping Thiel College score a 3-0 men’s volleyball victory over Mount Aloysius recently.

The Tomcats won the match 25-23, 25-22, 25-19.

SRU athletes claim 4 PSAC track honors

SLIPPERY ROCK — Four Slippery Rock University track and field athletes have received PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week honors.

Junior sprinter AJ Virata was named Men’s Track Athlete of the Week after posting the league’s fastest time in the 200 meters (21.83 seconds) and second fastest in the 100 (10.78). Graduate student pole vaulter Dan Hyatt was named Co-Field Athlete of the Week after placing second in the invite section of the pole vault at the Charlotte 49er Classic.

Senior distance runner Anna Igims was named Women’s Athlete of the Week after finishing second overall in the 5,000 meters in the invite section of the Charlotte 49er Classic with a career-best time of 16 minutes, 49.33 seconds. Freshman jumper Cassidy Davis was named Women’s Field Athlete of the Week after posting a pair of PSAC qualifying marks at the Charlotte 49er Classic.
