Last Un Libro, Un Butler! event coming up

The final event of the Un Libro, Un Butler! program at Butler Area Public Library will be held Saturday.

The University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Latin American Studies will lead La Celebracion of Hispanic and Latin American Culture from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library on North McKean Street.

A workshop at 11 a.m. will see children making cartoneras — or book covers made of cardboard — and another, at 1 p.m., will see adults making colorful papel picado, or “punched paper” used by the Aztecs.

A Latin guitarist will play during the event, and Slippery Rock University’s Spanish Club will present “Around the Latin World.” Catering will be provided by Rey Azteca in Butler.

All are welcome to attend the free event.

The Un Libro, Un Butler! series of events was made possible by a generous grant from the Robert E. and Helen Nixon Forsythe Foundation.
