John P. Depto, 70, of Prospect, died Friday, March 8, 2024, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born Oct. 17, 1953, in Latrobe, a son of Margaret (Shimko) Depto of Unity Township and the late Joseph J. Depto.

Prior to retirement, he worked at Penn Detroit Diesel in Cranberry and was a member of St. Vincent Basilica Parish, Latrobe. John was an avid motorcycle rider, loved old cars and owned two street rods, was a master woodworker and loved to tinker around the house.

He is survived by his wife, Paulette I. (Thomas) Depto; two brothers, Brendan Depto of Latrobe and Robin Depto and wife, Nanette Gopez, of Newark, Del.; his sister, Margot Delio and husband, Dominick, of Oakmont; several nieces and nephews; and many, many close friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph R. Depto.

DEPTO — Friends of John P. Depto, who died Friday, March 8, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent Basilica Parish, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe. Interment will follow in Visitation Cemetery, Mount Pleasant.
