Burke, SS Academy win WPIAL 2A girls hoop title
PITTSBURGH — With a lineup dominated by sophomores, former Butler varsity girls basketball coach Jonna Burke guided Shady Side Academy to the WPIAL Class 2A championship Friday night at the Petersen Events Center.
The Bulldogs (24-2) won their 18th straight game, defeating Avonworth (22-2), 52-45. The WPIAL crown marked the first in program history for Shady Side Academy.
