SRU men’s basketball clinches home tourney game

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University’s men’s basketball team clinched a home game in the upcoming PSAC Tournament with a 90-73 win over Edinboro on Wednesday night at Morrow Field House.

With one game left in the regular season, SRU (15-12, 13-8) is tied for third in the PSAC West standings with Indiana (Pa.). The top four teams play a home game in the tournament’s first round.

Should the teams remain tied for third, SRU wins the tiebreaker over IUP. The Rock will host either Mercyhurst or Seton Hill in the PSAC Tournament on Monday night. SRU is 12-1 at Morrow Field House this season.

Ike Herster scored 23 points for The Rock on Wednesday. Lashon Lindsey had 13 points and seven rebounds, Sheick Samoura 13 points and three blocked shots. Maceo Austin had 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Bobby Clifford 11 points and Jomo Goings 10 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Bernie Blunt paced Edinboro (7-20, 6-15) with 23 points.

Edinboro 60, SRU (women) 47 — Regan Atkins led The Rock (2-22, 2-19) with 17 points and five rebounds. Deryn Moye scored 13 points and had four assists. Endya Robinson grabbed 11 rebounds.

Slippery Rock High School graduate Hallie Raabe scored four points and had five rebounds for SRU.

Morgan Gentile led Edinboro (16-10, 14-7) with 20 points and 11 rebounds, Hayley Sims adding 16 points for the Fighting Scots.

Both Rock teams close the regular season Saturday at Mercyhurst. The women’s game is at 1 p.m., the men’s game at 3 p.m.
