West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department and other emergency departments responded to a single-vehicle crash about 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, near 1045 West Sunbury Road in Clay Township, which involved a firefighter for the department.

Justin O’Hara, chief of West Sunbury VFD, said the member — whose name he declined to provide — was not on duty when he crashed. He also said the firefighter was transferred to Allegheny General Hospital Trauma Center for evaluation for a possible knee injury, but was released Monday.

Unionville Volunteer Fire Company, Butler Ambulance Service and state police also responded to the crash, according to Butler County dispatch. According to dispatch, emergency responders were on the scene for a little under an hour and 10 minutes.
