Knoch girls fall in playoffs

Adah Fuller had a dozen points for Knoch, but the Knights dropped a 43-31 decision to Elizabeth-Forward in a WPIAL Class 4A girls basketball quarterfinal Friday night.

The Warriors pulled away in the third quarter, leading by 19 entering the final frame.

Knoch (14-10) will move on to play in the consolation bracket on Monday.

Bowling

Freeport’s Mackensie Livigston reached the championship final of the WPIBL girls bowling singles tournament at Mt. Lebanon, but dropped a 222-183 decision to Veronica Flanagan of Kiski Area.

The Yellowjackets’ Olivia Svitek reached the semifinal round, losing to Livingston there by a 210-182 count. Freeport’s Kylie McConahy had the second highest game of the tournament with a 244.

Livingston rolled a 624 series, including a pair of 235 games, in finishing second to Hempfield’s Amelia Droste in the three qualifying games. Droste lost to Flanagan in the semifinals. Svitek rolled a 211-616 to finish third in qualifying. McConahy was seventh with a 244-606.

The top six bowlers went on to play for the championship.

Hannah Windows of Freeport was ninth with a 219-594. Makensie Zimmerman was Butler’s top bowler, finishing 22nd with a 187-506.
