Rock men clinch PSAC tourney berth

SLIPPERY ROCK — Ike Herster came off the bench to score a game-high 19 points on Saturday as the Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team clinched a PSAC Tournament berth with a 61-58 win over Pitt-Johnstown at Morrow Field House.

The Rock improved to 12-12 overall, 10-8 in PSAC play The win marked SRU’s 10th win at home this season. Pitt-Johnstown fell to 6-19, 4-15.

With four games left in the regular season, SRU has a one-game lead over Mercyhurst and two over Seton Hill for fourth place in the West Division standings. Lashon Lindsey had nine points and 12 rebounds for The Rock.

Gavin Headings led the Mountain Cats with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Pitt-Johnstown 75, SRU (women) 44 — Regan Atkins scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds for SRU (2-19, 2-16). Kristina Donza added 12 points.

Lexi Margolis paced UPJ (15-10, 10-9) with 17 points.

Both Rock teams play at Clarion on Wednesday. The women’s game is at 5:30 p.m., the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
