Man accused of raping unconscious woman in Evans City

A Pittsburgh man is accused of raping a woman while she was unconscious at a residence in Evans City last year, according to charges filed Wednesday, Feb. 7.

State police charged Joshua T. Dilembo, 25, with felonies rape and aggravated assault after DNA evidence linked him to an incident that occurred Jan. 1, 2023.

On that date, documents show, an Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police officer responded to a report of a woman who was sexually assaulted. The woman was transported from the scene by Harmony EMS to Butler Memorial Hospital.

Police said the woman was interviewed at the hospital, and disclosed she, Dilembo and others were at the residence on New Year’s Eve.

The group consumed alcohol, according to documents. In the early morning New Year’s Day, police said the woman, Dilembo and another person were the only people awake in the home and congregated in the living room.

Documents showed the woman fell asleep around 2 a.m., and when she awoke, Dilembo was performing a sexual act on her. Dilembo did not comply when the woman asked him to stop, police said.

The woman told police she again fell asleep and awoke a second time to Dilembo performing a sexual act on her. He again did not comply with her requests for him to stop, documents show.

Police said footage from a doorbell camera showed someone waiting in a vehicle for Dilembo to exit the residence for 18 minutes while the alleged assault took place.

The woman consented to have a rape kit taken, and the results were sent to Greensburg Regional Laboratory for analysis.

Police said they interviewed Dilembo on Jan. 1, 2023, during which he denied anything sexual occurring between him and the woman.

Police said Dilembo later consented to having his DNA sent to the Greensburg lab to be analyzed for the investigation, and results returned on Oct. 23, 2023, showed his DNA present on the woman’s rape kit.

Dilembo was interviewed again in January 2024, documents showed. Police said Dilembo denied having sexual contact with the woman, even when advised of the test results.

Dilembo’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
