Students at Allegheny-Clarion Valley Junior/Senior High School wore pink on Monday, Jan. 22 in tribute to school nurse Holly Irwin, who died Jan. 18 after a battle with cancer, superintendent David McDeavitt said.

Irwin served the district for 25 years.

In a social media post, McDeavitt previously stated the district is offering grief counseling provided by local schools and agencies.

“Holly will be greatly missed by our students and staff,” McDeavitt wrote. “She served as a role model, exhibiting a positive attitude through both good and turbulent times. She cared for our students and staff like they were members of her own family.”
