Knoch girls roll past Valley, 61-12
Adah Fuller paced three Knoch girls in double figures, scoring 13 points in the Knights’ 61-12 girls basketball win at Valley on Thursday night.
Karlee Buterbaugh added 12 points and McKenna Brailey 10 for Knoch (7-5, 3-3), which plays on Monday at North Catholic.
The Knights sank nine treys on the night and led 44-8 by halftime. Ameria Simmons led Valley with eight points.
Freeport 52, Derry Area 39 — Jaden Gaillot scored 16 points for the Yellowjackets. Brooke Kmetz added nine as Freeport had a five-point lead at halftime and built it from there.
Rachelle Marinchek scored 12 points and Haylee Miers 10 for Derry.
North Hills 55, Mars 38 — The Planets (7-5, 2-4) trailed by only four after three quarters, but were outscored 13-0 in the final eight minutes.
Cecelia Christy led Mars with 15 points while Vita Vargo had seven. Gianna Studuivant scored 20 points for North Hills (7-6, 5-0).
Olivia Waters and Delaney Amato scored 13 each for the Indians.
Karns City 42, Clarion 26 — Naomi Venesky scored 16 points for the Gremlins, who took a 16-point lead into the third period. Savanna Prescott added nine points for KC.
Taylor Alston netted seven points for Clarion.
Four Knoch wrestlers won by pinfall in this Wednesday match, but the Knights dropped a 45-24 decision to Highlands.
Owen Layhew, Brady Pflugh, Wyatt Foster and Parker Anderson had the pins for Knoch. The Knights will compete in the Valley Duals tournament on Saturday.
Butler defeated Hempfield on Thursday, 799-61X to 794-62.
Slippery Rock’s girls continued their win streak with a 115-55 triumph over Oil City. The Rocket boys dropped a 101-36 decision.
Mollie Massella won the 200-yard individual medley and 100 butterfly for Slippery Rock. Raely FaJohn won the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke. The Rocket girls swept the relay events.
Cody Hartle won the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke for the Slippery Rock boys.
