Longtime Butler Transit Authority board member resigns
Butler Transit Authority board member Jim Diamond resigned from the board at a meeting effective Dec. 31, after serving 17 years with the authority.
John Paul, executive director of the Butler Transit Authority, said Diamond, who had three years left in his term, cited personal reasons for leaving. The county commissioners will make an appointment to fill Diamond’s role, Paul said.
According to Paul, Diamond was instrumental in a number of initiatives the authority took on, even up to recent years with the addition of space at the authority’s main office.
“He was responsible for bringing the Pullman Rail Car to this site, and also the establishment of the Pullman Committee, the small historical area in commuter wait area,” Paul said. “Jim was a great board member. He is going to be missed.”
A six-member board of directors appointed by the Butler County commissioners governs the authority. Paul said anyone interested in being on the transit authority board of directors should contact Butler County for information on applying.
“We're hoping to have somebody in place by February meeting. That would be Feb. 13,” Paul said. “That would be covered at a county commissioners’ meeting.”
