County awarded $113K in ‘Arts and Culture’ grants

Butler County was awarded $113,793 in “Arts and Culture Recovery Program” grants Tuesday, Dec. 19, from the Commonwealth Financing Authority.

Administered through the agency, the American Rescue Plan Act funds support nonprofit arts and culture organizations, local arts and culture districts and arts and culture professionals in the state.

United Way of Clarion County — the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts partner governing Butler County — received $49,500 to redistribute in region 13, including Butler, Armstrong, Clarion, Jefferson and Indiana Counties.

The Strand Theater Initiative in Zelienople received $20,299 to offset lost revenue as well as to fund new programs and marketing.

The Keystone State Musical Theater Association in Cranberry Township received $18,569 for operating expenses.

The Butler County Symphony Association in the city of Butler also received $15,425 for operating expenses.

And Historical Harmony Inc. in the borough received $10,000 for operating costs.
