SRU women drop basketball opener

SLIPPERY ROCK — True freshman Regan Atkis scored 13 points, grabbed seven rebounds and two steals, but the Slippery Rock University women’s basketball team dropped a season-opening 70-46 decision to Ursuline on Saturday at Morrow Field House.

Kristina Donza contributed 13 points and two steals for SRU. Riley Stopp scored 16 points for Ursuline (4-0).

SRU travels to Wright State for a 7 p.m. game on Monday.

BC3 women fall to Cuyaghoga CC

BUTLER TWP — Brooke Manuel scored 13 points for Butler County Community College, but the Pioneers’ women’s basketball team took a 77-35 loss to Cuyahoga CC on Saturday.

Manuel had 12 rebounds as well. Zoe Morley had eight points and nine boards for BC3 (1-1), which hosts Niagara CC at 5 p.m. on Nov. 29.
