Shine for ShelterBox fundraiser to highlight global charity
ShelterBox, an international disaster relief organization, will be holding a fundraiser dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3 at the Stables at Connoquenessing.
Bruce Heller, a ShelterBox volunteer who has delivered lifesaving goods and tools to Haiti, Iraq, Kenya/Somalia, Peru, Fiji, Houston and the Philippines, will speak at the event, along with David Sturrock, event organizer and ShelterBox Ambassador for Western Pennsylvania.
ShelterBox was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018 and 2019. The charity has deployed in 12 countries so far, and aided displaced people in Syria and Turkey. ShelterBox provides family-sized tents and essential tools to start rebuilding after disaster.
Tickets for the Shine for ShelterBox Fundraiser Dinner can be purchased in advance at shelterboxshine.square.site. The Stables at Connoquenessing is located at 856 Evans City Road.
