A total of 270 youngsters attended a Halloween party put on by the Butler YMCA on Oct. 26, 1971.

While the annual Butler YMCA Cadet and Prep Halloween party garnered hundreds of costumed kiddos, only four took home prizes for best costume — one child in each age group.

The winners were Bill Watterson in the age 10 to 12 bracket, Tom Sterling in the 8 and 9 bracket and Greg and Christine Klann in the 5 to 7 age bracket.
