Scoop flying high after perfect week

After toiling with mediocrity and straight-up bad records for much of the season, I finally met with perfection last week. I went 11-0 and my season record now stands at 55-20.

But there's more work to be done. With three regular-season weeks remaining, plus any playoff games our teams are involved in, I strive to finish strong. Ten games are the challenge this week and they're just waiting to knock me off my perch. Here are my predictions for Week 8.

Butler at Cathedral Prep — The Golden Tornado have been on a slippery slope for weeks. Traveling to Erie to face the Ramblers will provide no reprieve.

Score: Cathedral Prep 37-14

Seneca Valley at North Hills — Both teams carry momentum into this matchup, but it will be the Raiders who win for the third straight week.

Score: Seneca Valley 25-21

Freeport at Knoch — Rest vs. Rust ... Which one will affect the Knights the most after a forfeit win last week?

I think that question will be answered quickly with a fast start for Knoch.

Score: Knoch 34-15

Armstrong at Mars — The River Hawks will provide high-flying Mars with a stiff test, but not enough to take down the Planets.

Score: Mars 35-30

North Catholic at Avonworth — It would take a very formidable challenge for me to pick against the Trojans right now. The undefeated Antelopes fit the bill.

Score: Avonworth 24-17

Karns City at Brookville — The Raiders have won five straight in decisive fashion. They'll earn a close victory against the Gremlins.

Score: Brookville 28-21

Punxsutawney at Moniteau — Too many offensive weapons for the Warriors to defend.

Score: Punxsutawney 40-16

Union/A-C Valley at Smethport — A brutal schedule has the Falcon Knights sitting at 3-4. They'll take out some frustration on the Hubbers.

Score: Union/A-C Valley 36-8

Slippery Rock at Wilmington — A struggling Rockets offense just can't keep up with a Greyhounds team capable of scoring points in bunches.

Score: Wilmington 32-13

Shenango at Summit Academy — For the second time this season, the Knights come painfully close to win No. 1.

Score: Shenango 26-21
