Cranberry Public Library awarded $30,000 STEM grant
Cranberry Public Library was awarded $30,000 in grant funding to support STEM learning in The Forge makerspace at the library.
The grant, awarded through the Arconic Foundation, will be used to establish a Maker in Residence program, allowing for more classes on a wider range of science, technology, engineering and math activities. Additional equipment, such as laptops and software to run design programs, will also be purchased for the space
“Teaching people how to use our 3D printers, laser engraver, and other equipment in The Forge not only supplements the STEM learning happening in our schools, but allows us to offer STEM learning to those who aren’t currently in a formal education setting,” said Leslie Pallotta, library director. “The grant will benefit anyone who has an interest in STEM learning, while giving us much-needed support in The Forge.”
Makerspace manager, Mary Frances Reutzel said she is “looking forward to strengthening STEM content offerings” and that she hopes to reach people that have yet to discover the space.
