Since 1990, the first week of October has been designated as Mental Health Awareness Week.

To — quite literally — shine a light on mental health, St. John’s United Church of Christ in Evans City is organizing a Candlelight Prayer Walk of Hope for Oct. 4.

The walk will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the flagpole located in downtown Evans City and will make three stops in town, proceeding to the parking lot of Ritzert Hall on East Main Street. At each stop, there will be prayer and song.

Candles will be available for those participating in the walk. The organizers will also accept donations for the Butler County branch of NAMI.
