Nebel nets 3 goals in Knoch win

Mason Nebel’s hat trick highlighted Knoch’s 5-0 win over Greensburg Salem in boys soccer action on Thursday.

Also scoring for the Knights were Anthony Lejevic and Sam Caldwell.

Butler 3, Central Catholic 1 — Cody Lubinsky scored twice and Mason Anderson found the net once for the Golden Tornado.

Jaxon Llewellyn, Andrew Lucas and Landon Stevenson each contributed an assist.

Boys Golf

Mars featured five golfers who carded sub-40 scores in a 193-207 win over Seneca Valley on Thursday at Butler Country Club.

Will Campbell and Keagan O’Leary paced the Planets with a pair of 38s.

Anthony Cardosi fired a 40 for the Raiders.

Knoch 213, Deer Lakes 224 — The Knights moved their record to 9-4 overall and 9-2 in section matches with this win at Saxon Golf Course.

Mason Phillips led the way with a 39.

KSAC — Joe Rapp fired a 41 for A-C Valley/Union and tied for fifth place at Clarion Oaks Golf Course.

Hudson Bliss added a 48 for the Falcon Knights.

Karns City received a 44 from Joey O'Donnell and a 46 courtesy of Chloe Fritch.

Moniteau was led by Chason Delarosa-Rugg (45) and Dawson Wallace (47).

Led by Devon Lauer’s two-under 34, Clarion placed first as a team with 195 strokes, 32 better than runner-up North Clarion.

Girls Soccer

Junior Aiva Reich collected three goals in Slippery Rock’s 6-0 defeat of Meadville.

Scoring one goal apiece for the Rockets were Brielle Jordan, Brooke Arblaster and Emily Plyler.

Arblaster added five assists and Plyler one.

Libby Campbell earned the shutout in net.

Freeport 2, Burrell 1 — Payton Los and Camryn Woods scored goals for the Yellowjackets.

Cross Country

Karns City’s Dillon Stroup won the boys race with a time of 19 minutes, 40.46 seconds in a meet against North Clarion. Teammate Noah Weiland was second in 19:42.48.

On the girls side, the Gremlins’ Miley Mooney was second in 25:18. There were no team scores.

Girls Volleyball

Avalee Demidovich tallied seven kills, Anora Robare had 21 assists and C.J. Sabo added five blocks as Slippery Rock cruised past Commodore Perry with a 3-0 win.

The sweep came by scores of 25-13, 25-11 and 25-9.

Lexi Plesakov, Adison Novad and Molly Bissell paced the defense with 11 digs, 10 digs and nine digs, respectively.

Cranberry 3, Moniteau 1 — Davina Pry dropped seven kills and had three blocks for the Warriors, who fell to the Berries by scores of 15-25, 25-15, 16-25 and 19-25.

Marissa Pry added eight kills in defeat and Sydney Bayless six blocks.

A-C Valley 3, Forest Area 0 — The Falcons (2-1) made quick work of the Fires with scores of 25-14, 25-12 and 25-15.

Lexi Altman finished with seven assists and eight aces. Bella Ielase contributed five kills and Maddy Dehart three kills.

Karns City 3, Venango Catholic 0 — Ava Fox posted six kills and nine aces while teammate Cayley Craig had 12 aces as the Gremlins swept the Vikings 25-4, 25-9 and 25-11.

Kendall Ritzert aided the win with six assists, Haylie Karenbauer added four kills and three aces, Naomi Venesky three kills and Leah Wilson two kills.

Butler 3, Hempfield 2 — The Golden Tornado (4-0) rallied ftom behind to win this match 18-25, 18-25, 25-15, 25-21, 15-11 to stay undefeated. Audrey Leman tallied 11 kills, seven digs and ace, Sarah Szebalskie nine kills, digs, three blocks and two aces, Brynn Cornibe seven kills, three blocks and three aces.

Butler travels to the Shaler Tournament on Saturday before hosting Seneca Valley on Tuesday.

Freeport 3, Deer Lakes 0 — Alaina Whetlinger had 11 kills and five service points for the Yellowjackets (3-0), who won the match 25-8, 25-12, 25-8. Josie Russo added nine kills and eight points, Sydney Felker five kills and 11 points.

Leah Schreckengost tallied five kills and 12 points, Autumn English five kills for Freeport, which plays at Armstrong on Monday.

Girls Tennis

Sydney Blucher won in singles play and the doubles team of Marlee Jones/Lily Wood was also victorious, but Seneca Valley dropped a 3-2 decision to Moon.
