Andrew Yellin, of Zelienople, was named one of 10 students nationwide to win a 2023 Dematic FIRST scholarship.

The $1,000 scholarship will go toward his civil engineering degree at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Honorees are selected based on academic excellence and commitment to pursuing a future in science, technology, engineering and math.

Applicants must provide their transcripts, a one-page essay discussing a future where humans and machines interact in the warehouse, and a letter of recommendation.

They also must have previously competed in a FIRST Robotics Competition or FIRST Tech Challenge.

Yellin is a 2023 North Catholic High School graduate.
