Falcon Knights upend Keystone
While Union/A-C Valley’s defense pitched a shutout in the second half, Max Gallagher and Logan Skibinski scored on touchdown runs in the third and fourth quarter, respectively, as the Falcon Knights downed host Keystone 24-13 in high school football action on Friday.
Gallagher’s jaunt came from 10 yards out and Skibinski put his speed to good use on a 56-yard run.
Brody Dittman passed to Trey Fleming for a 33-yard score in the first quarter. Owen Bish then scored on a 1-yard plunge with just 31 seconds left before halftime to cut Keystone’s lead to 13-12.
The Falcon Knights evened their record at 1-1 with the win.
Rayce Weaver scored both touchdowns for the Panthers (0-2).
Shady Side Academy 34, North Catholic 28 (OT) — A week after surviving a 49-42 shootout against Serra Catholic, the Trojans were on the wrong end against the Bulldogs.
Mercyhurst Prep 49, Slippery Rock 7 — Eli Anderson hooked up with Sam Schwartz on a touchdown pass early in the second quarter to account for the lone score for the Rockets (0-2).
Leechburg 59, Summit Academy 20 — The Knights (0-2) dropped their second straight road game.
Girls Soccer
Slippery Rock dropped its first two games of the season, falling 4-1 to Seneca and 5-1 to Karns City. Brooke Arblaster scored both of the Rockets’ goals. She is a four-year starter.
